Burundi, officially the Republic of Burundi, is a small landlocked country in Central Africa with its southwest region bordering the deepest lake of Africa, Tanganyika. Its population consists of Hutu (85%) and Tutsi tribes. Royal Drummers of Burundi is a world famous percussion ensemble from Burundi. They perform during festivals celebrating the birth of babies or during funerals. The Royal Drummers use a drum made of wood and leather called Inkiranya, Amashako and Ibishikiso. They have begun to have performance on the world stages since the 1960s, releasing music albums. Burundi people usually enjoy their traditional alcoholic drinks like Impeke (sorghum beer) and Urwarwa (banana wine) during festivals.
