This country is a member of UDEAC and OPEC. Also, it is a nation of the Lome Convention. Residents are divided into 3 groups such as the Fang, Pygmy, and Bantu, and these groups are fractionated into many tribes. For administrative purposes, Gabon is divided into 9 provinces. Education is divided into the elementary education (6~11 years), middle education (12~15 years), and high education (16~18 years). The compulsory education is elementary school and middle school. The Omar Bongo University located in Libreville is high educational institution. Wood sculptures and masks are famous art works of Gabon. A minister supervises selecting wood for mask and process of manufacturing. Also, masks play a great role in a religious ceremony.
