Guinea, in West Africa in the Atlantic community, consists of four regions. Atlantic Coastal lines are a habitation for the Susu people. Pelus people live in the mountainous middle part of this country while Malinkes people in the northeast region. Many tribes live in the forestry southeastern area of Guinea. Guinea possesses about 30 % of the world’s bauxite reserves and it is the second largest bauxite producer. The dense Nimba mountain area, bordering Liberia and Cote d’Ivoire was listed as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage in 1982 as it is a habitat for diverse animals and plants. As a historian and storyteller, Djibril Tamsir Niane (January 9, 1932) has published novels and other books dramatizing old Africa stories passed down by word of mouth. He has also rectified African history and conducted an UNESCO project.
