The Malawi is a landlocked country of the southeastern Africa, often called the “Warm heart of Africa”. This nickname is given because of the Malawi people’s kindness. The Malawi Lake that is located in the eastern border of Malawi is the 3rd biggest lake. It is designated as a national park in 1980 and as a UNESCO world heritage site in 1984. Agriculture is given a great deal of weight on the economy. The 90% of the population engage in agriculture. The main crop is tobacco. Since tobacco is a primary role in earning foreign exchange, the natives call it “Green Gold”. The population is composed of the biggest tribe Chewa, Tumbuka, and Yao. The UNESCO appoints the Gule Wamkulu that is a traditional dance from the 17th century as a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. The Gule Wamkulu means the Great Dance in Chichewa that is a native language. English and Chichewa are both official languages and widely spoken in this country.
