Antigua and Barbuda is an island country located on the Lesser Antilles, east of the Caribbean Sea. The country has three islands; Antigua, Barbuda and the uninhabited Redonda Island. Most of the people live in Antigua Island. Antigua and Barbuda is the member of the Commonwealth serving the Queen of England. In Antigua and Barbuda, there is a viceroy carrying out the power of the queen as a proxy. Among the many islands in the Caribbean Sea, Antigua and Barbuda is especially popular among tourists for its beautiful nature. The country’s smooth sandy beach and beautiful coral reefs are loved by people who enjoy water sports such as snorkeling or scuba diving. Antigua Island is also famous for international boat competitions. Opened from the end of April to the beginning of May each year, the ‘Antigua Sailing Week’ is one of the three major boat competitions in the world. Barbuda Island is the habitat for frigate birds, which are important around this region. More than 5,000 frigate birds from 170 species live in Barbuda Island.
