Bolivia is a South American country with the traces of the ancient Incan Civilization which prospered during 15th ~ 16th century. The name of the country comes from Simon Bolivar (1783~1830) who led the liberation of South America. Bolivia is also known as the country where the South American revolutionist Che Guevara (1928~1967) was captured and executed. ‘Titicaca Lake’ located on the border of Bolivia and Peru is the highest-locating lake in the world as well as the origin of the Incan Civilization. On the shore of this lake lie the remains of the ‘Tiwanacu Civilization (UNESCO’s World Heritage, 2000)’ which existed before the Incan Civilization. Tiwanacu is also a place where the first native president of Bolivia, ‘Evo Morales’ opened his inauguration ceremony in 2005. The amazing site of ‘Uyuni Salt Lake,’ the largest salt lake in the world, is located on the border area of Bolivia and Chile. With its ceiling, floor and furniture (e.g. beds, chairs, tables) all made from salt, the salt hotel in Uyuni village offers a special memory to the tourists. Bolivia is also famous for its well-preserving wildlife well, such as dolphins, jaguars, otters, pumas.
