Brazil is the largest country in South America, and the 5th largest country in the world. Through Brazil flows the Amazon River, which is the river with the largest area and flux volume in the world. Around the river is the Amazon Jungle area known as the ‘Lung of the World.’ The Amazon Jungle has countless kinds of insects, birds, animals and plants. On the country’s border with Argentina located to the south of the Amazon River, there is the Iguazu Falls, one of the three grand waterfalls in the world. In the native tongue, ‘Iguazu’ means ‘Great amount of water.’ In some part of the waterfall, the difference in elevation is greater than 80 meters. Every February, Brazil turns into a country of ‘Samba Festivals,’ enjoyed not only by Brazilians but also by numerous people around the world. Samba is the traditional dance of Brazil, and the festivals are opened in the three cities of Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo and Salvador. Among these festivals, the one opened in the seaside of Rio de Janeiro is most famous. Brazil is also the country of soccer. Including the 2002 World Cup, the country has won five World Cup competitions. Many famous soccer players, including Pele, are from Brazil.
