Canada is a country established by English and French immigrants. Most of the French immigrants today live in the state of Quebec. Canada has the second largest territory in the world following Russia. Since the northern region of the country is covered with ice throughout the year, most of the population lives in the southern region. Maple leaf, which represents Canada, is used in various places around the country, including the national flag, newspaper, one cent coin, visa card, beer, etc. Maple trees are very common in Canada. Especially, the beautiful scene of crimson foliages can be enjoyed in the Maple Road, starting from the Niagara Falls to reach Quebec through Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal. Terry Fox, who spread the movement of raising funds for anticancer campaigns, is the hero of Canada. Although Terry amputated his leg due to cancer, he started a transcontinental marathon to raise funds for other cancer patients. Unfortunately, we passed away before finishing this marathon. Yet, his spirit touched millions of people around the world, and in September every year, more than 50 countries open the ‘Terry Fox Run’ to raise funds for anticancer campaigns.
