Cuba is located on the largest island of the Caribbean Sea. Due to its beautiful scenery, the country has been called the ‘Pearl of the Caribbean Sea.’ Through the Cuban Revolution (1959) led by Fidel and Raul Castro brothers, Che Guevara and more, Cuba was reborn as a socialist state. In the Revolution Plaza of the capital Havana stand a 109m (358ft) high monument dedicated to Jose Marti who is praised to be the father of Cuban independence, as well as the building of the Ministry of Home affairs with a large wall painting of Che Guevara. The rich land of Cuba produces excellent sugarcanes (the raw materials of sugar) and cigars. Especially, Cuban cigars are known as the best in the world. Cuban ‘Daiquiri’ and ‘Mojito’ which are cocktails made from the mixture of rum (distilled liquor from sugarcanes) were enjoyed by the great American writer, Hemmingway. Hemmingway spent his later years in a farm called ‘Finca Vigia,’ located on San Francisco de Paula in the outskirts of Havana. In the farm, he wrote masterpieces such as ‘The Old Man and the Sea’ and ‘For Whom the Bell Tolls.’ Cojimar, a small fishing village where Hemmingway used to visit, is the actual background of ‘The Old Man and the Sea.’ Being the hometown of Salsa, Cubans love to dance. In the Tropicana show, Cubans show their passionate dances to amaze the tourists. Tourism is the major industry of Cuba today. Especially, as the country has an inexpensive and high-quality health service system, ‘health tourism’ in very active in Cuba.
