The Commonwealth of Dominica is an island country located on the Caribbean Sea. With a nickname of ‘the Nature Island of the Caribbean,’ the country preserves an untamed and beautiful nature. As a volcanic island, the country has many mountainous areas with hot springs and geysers. In the Morne Trois Pitons National Park, appointed as UNESCO’s World Heritage in 1997, there is the second largest boiling lake in the world. As the climate of the Commonwealth of Dominica is tropical with heavy rainfall, the country has a large forest area filled with curious animals and plants. The Sirus parrot, which is drawn in the national flag, is also one of the native species of the country. The major industries of the Commonwealth of Dominica are agriculture and tourism. Tropical fruits with rich juice and high sugar contents, such as banana and orange, are abundant in the country. Especially, banana takes up about 70% of the country’s entire export. Meanwhile, more and more people are visiting the Commonwealth of Dominica to enjoy its natural beauty. Recently, the country became the filming place of Walt Disney’s movie, ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest,’ and ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End’ to gain more popularity as a tourist spot.
