Afghanistan shares its border with Pakistan, Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and China. Its population is made up of diverse ethnic groups like Afghan (Pashtun), Tajik, Uzbek and Hajara. Each group tends to choose to live and work according to the life style of its own ethnic group. Although this is a multi-ethnic, multi-lingual and multi-cultural society, most people are Muslim. Owing to the geographical location, Afghanistan was the gateway that linked the Central Asia, Iran and India. It was dominated by many countries. More than 1,800 items of relics from Greece, Rome, India, Egypt and the Central Asian nations are collected at the Cabul National Museum in Cabul. The most representative relic of Afghan is the Bamiyan Valley sitting high in the Hazarajat region, heart of the Hindu Kush. In the valley, there are more than 2,000 stone caves and Gandhara Art remains. The Bamiyan Valley is one of the world’s largest heritage sites.
