Most people of Bangladesh believe in Islam, and there are more than 200,000 Mosques across the nation with 2,000 Mosques in Dhaka alone. Most people do not unconditionally rely on Islamic principles or guidance; they tend to act according to the tradition and the culture. Dr. Yunus Grameen won the Novel Peace Prize and Seoul Peace Prize in 2006 for his dedication to the relief of the poor by establishing the Grameen Bank. The bank has 2,185 branches as of 2006. Grameen Bank has lent $5.7 billion to 6.6 million borrowers over the past 3 decades, mostly in small loans, and 58% of the borrowers lifted themselves out of poverty. Bangladesh is also famous for the Mainimati Temple, the meeting place for Buddhist monks from the 7th century to 12th century and where more than 50 items of Buddhist relics remain. Sundarbans National Park covers 10,000 sq. km of land, and water of the Ganges River is another famous tourist destination. This park is the home to the numerous rare and endangered species, and it was added to the UNESCO World Natural Heritage list in 1987.
