Iran was called Persia until 1935. Many people think that Iran is similar to other Arab countries. However, Iranians speak Persian, and its Persian people have European origins. Iran was included into the Islamic culture around the 7th century, and since then, most Iranians are Muslim. The two most representative cities in Iran are Tehran (the current capital) and Aspahan (the ancient Persian capital). Aspahan contains many Persian-era relics, including the palace and Mosque decorated with mosaics. The Meidan Emam Esfahan was added to the UNESCO's World Heritage List in 1979. The luxurious carpet is the world famous handicraft. There is also a large carpet museum which exhibits diverse kinds of carpets and thread.
