Official name of Jordan is the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. An Arab nation, Jordan is ruled by the Hashemite royal family, the descendants of Mohamed (the prophet). More than half of its population is made up of Palestinians, including Queen Rania, after Jordan opened its door to Palestinian refugees from the Israel-Palestine conflict. Unlike its neighbors, Jordan has no oil, and tourism revenue accounts for more than 10 % of its GDP. The most famous tourism destinations include Amman, Petra, Wadi Rum, Jerash and the Dead Sea. Petra was designated as a World Heritage site by UNESCO (1985) and was the location of the movie Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade (1989). The beautiful desert, Wadi Rum, was the location to film Lawrence Of Arabia (1962). Jerash, 48km north of Amman, is one of the cities where ancient Roman constructions remain. Circus Maximus, the Temple of Zeus and the Temple of Artemis are located in Jerash.
