Luxemburg is the only Grand Duchy in the world today. This Western European country is governed by a grand duke (a rank between the king and a duke). Luxemburg is a founding member of EU, NATO and UN. The major industries of the country are banking and steel industry. The GDP of Luxemburg ranks first in the world, making the country one of the richest. One third of the population comes from foreign countries, and various cultures and languages exist together in this country. Luxembourgian Ministry of Tourism even promotes the country as the ‘real melting pot of Europe.’ There are three official languages in Luxemburg; Luxembourgian, German and French. Other than these official languages, English is also commonly used. The National Art & History Museum of Luxemburg attracts many tourists not only with its archeological and historical remains, but also with its abundant art pieces from modern times. Meanwhile, the region around Moselle River, which borders the country from Germany, is famous for producing fine white wine. Every year, the country opens a huge wine festival called ‘The Riesling Open Festival.’
