Malta is a country formed with three inhabited islands of Malta, Gozo and Comino, and three uninhabited islands. The country has a long history of 5,000 years. The country’s two famous ruins from the prehistoric age, the Ggantija Temple and the Hal Salflieni Hypogeum, were appointed as UNESCO’s World Heritage in 1980. Malta is located in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. The beautiful nature of the country has been loved by many European visitors to make tourism the most important source of income. Comino Island is famous for its emerald sea, ‘Blue Lagoon.’ The movie ‘Troy’ was filmed in this sea. Valleta, the Capital of Malta, was appointed as UNESCO’s World Heritage in 1980. Valleta has the St. John’s Co-Cathedral, a building from the 16thcentury showing the magnificence of Baroque arts. The masterpieces of great painters such as Caravaggio (1571~1610) and Mattia Preti (1613~1699) are in this cathedral. Malta is also famous for its delicacy, Stuffat Tal-Fenek, which is a traditional rabbit stew.
