Moldova is an Eastern European country located between Rumania and Ukraine. With a clear weather and rich land, the agricultural industry of the country such as producing tobacco and wine supports the economy of Moldova. Although the size of the country is very small, Moldova has more than 140 wineries. Among these wineries, Cricova Winery is the largest and oldest in Moldova. Visited by many tourists around the world, this winery is located 15km (9.3 miles) north to the Capital Chisinau. Chisinau is known as a place where Alexander Pushkin, a famous Russian writer, went into exile for three years. The house where Pushkin used to live in is today remodeled and opened as the ‘Pushkin Museum.’ Moldova is a country with a well-preserved nature where various animals such as roe deer, muskrat, badger, etc live in. The country also well preserves various folk cultures, such as the ancient folk ballad Miorita. One of the country’s famous celebrities is Sergei Trofanov, a famous violinist known for a piece called ‘Moldova.’ He arranged the gypsy music that has been handed down orally in his country, and spread it to many other countries including Canada.
