Serbia was one of the six state countries constituting the old Yugoslavia. In 2003, the country formed a national federation of Serbia-Montenegro. However, as Montenegro separated itself from the federation in 2006, the country became the current Serbia. Serbia has two autonomous districts: Vojvodina and Kosovo. Tara region located on the west side of the country is one of the thickest forests in Europe with countless animals and plants. In 1981, the region has been appointed as a national park. Meanwhile, Tara Canyon, which is loved by many Serbians, is the second largest canyon in the world. In the summer season, the canyon is filled with visitors enjoying rafting. Easter is one of the biggest holidays in Serbia. In this day, Serbians paint eggs with red color, a Serbian tradition of showing joy. These eggs are then brought during Serbians’ visit to ancestral tombs, or shared with visitors. In the Capital Beograd, a festival called ‘Joy of Europe‘ is opened every October since 1969. This festival is participated by hundreds of children to share culture and friendship.
