Ukraine is the second largest Eastern European country after Russia. When the country was part of the old Soviet Union, it suffered the ‘Chernobyl Atomic Power Plant Explosion,’ marked as the worst atomic disaster in human history. After separating from the Soviet Union in 1991, Ukraine become the Three Powers of nuclear weapons along with the US and Russia. However, the country decided to abandon its nuclear weapons, making a model case of voluntary denuclearization. Ukraine has abundant natural resources such as coal, iron ore, natural gas, nonmetal minerals, salt, titanium, etc. One of the most significant resources of Ukraine is its rich ‘Black Soil,’ where massive amounts of agricultural goods, such as wheat, are produced. Thanks to this ‘Black Soil,’ Ukraine is called the ‘Bread Basket of Europe.’ In the Capital Kiev, there is the St. Sophia Cathedral which was selected as UNESCO’s World Heritage in 1990. Meanwhile, in Colomia city located west to the country, there is a unique museum called the Pysanka Museum. The museum displays a variety of eggs decorated for Easter.
