Nauru is an island in the Pacific just south of the equator. It is the world’s smallest republic, located in a small coral island. Nauru also is the only country in the world without capital. However, its government agencies are located in the 'Yaren District', out of the 14 districts. Most Nauru people are engaged in digging and exporting phosphate rocks as a major financial source for survival. They have a special tradition in which people catch the noddy that are on this way after hunting fish by throwing a noose in the evening. They cook the caught bird to eat them. Australian football is so popular in Nauru that they hold the annual foot ball leagues. Along with the Australian football, people also enjoy weight lifting. The Independent day of January 31 and Angam day on October 26 are being cerebrated at a national level. Angam means “Congratulations” or “Reaching the goals” in Nauru. This festival was created to celebrate the population recovery after decreasing fewer than 15 million persons.
