Papua New Guinea occupies the eastern half of the island of New Guinea, just north of Australia. Most of its territory is covered by endless tropical forestry where diverse plants, animals and insects live. Many unique birds dwell in this country, with the world’s most diverse kinds of parrots living here. Along with the birds, the cassowary and hornbills as well as the world’s biggest butterfly Queen Alexandra's Birdwing are making their lives in Papua New Guinea. Papua New Guinea is made up of many tribes who speak their own directs. There are about 900 kinds of local languages in this country. To avoid any unnecessary language barriers, an official language of Pidgin (Pisin) has been made. Meanwhile, people in high areas enjoy Sing sings’ which is a ceremony with dancing during a special occasion. During the‘Sing sings’ performance, Papua New Guineans tend to decorate themselves with pearls and feathers. But each person has different style decorations. The 20 local governments of Papua New Guinea generally hold the ‘Sing sings’ festival to celebrate an anniversary of the central government.
